This fall's new dryers split three ways: weight, drying control and size. The Tescom TEC-A086D (mid-Oct 2026) weighs about 410g, the Sharp IB-WX903 (Oct 22) about 550g, and the Panasonic EH-NB70 (early Nov, planned) is about 35% smaller by volume than its predecessor. If you dry your hair carefully every day, get the Sharp. For travel and low weight, get the Tescom.

Key points

  • Release order: Tescom TEC-A086D (mid-Oct), Sharp IB-WX903 (Oct 22), Panasonic EH-NB70 (early Nov, planned)
  • Weight: Tescom about 410g, Sharp about 550g. The 140g gap is about 25% of the Sharp
  • Only the Sharp has a set price: JPY 46,200 at COCORO STORE. The other two are open-priced

Which hair dryer should you buy? It depends on what you won't give up

Airflow numbers alone won't pick a dryer for you. A heavy one tires your arm, and over-drying wrecks your ends.

Here are three models released from October to November 2026, in release order. As an IT consultant, I read the footnote before the headline number, so the table below states the conditions behind each figure.

The short answer: Sharp IB-WX903 if you dry your hair carefully every day, Tescom TEC-A086D for travel and light weight, Panasonic EH-NB70 if you can wait for something smaller.

Three yardsticks: weight, drying control, size

CriterionWinnerWhy
WeightTescom TEC-A086DAbout 410g, 140g lighter than the Sharp (550 - 410)
Stops over-dryingSharp IB-WX903Senses moisture and switches between hot and cold air
SizePanasonic EH-NB70About 35% smaller by volume than the 2025 EH-NA0K
Chosen by me per criterion from the makers' press releases and product pages.

Release order: dates, prices and numbers

Sharp IB-WX903Oct 22, 2026JPY 46,200 (COCORO STORE)About 550gAbout 7.4 m³/min, 1200W
Panasonic EH-NB70Early Nov 2026 (planned)Open price-About 1.2x faster drying, about 35% smaller
As of Oct 26, 2026, from the makers' press releases and product pages. Tescom's wind speed is the TURBO figure measured to JIS. Panasonic compares against the EH-NA0K. Dates can slip.

Wind speed (m/s) and airflow (m³/min) are different things: one is how fast the air moves, the other is how much comes out per minute. I don't compare the Tescom and Sharp on these two directly.

Tescom TEC-A086D: 410g and it folds

Released in mid-October 2026, this dryer folds to palm size. It weighs about 410g and has five modes: HIGH, MID, AUTO, SCALP and COOL. It comes in gray, gold and pearl white.

It shines in a travel bag. And since you lift 140g less every time, daily use is easier on your arm.

Sharp IB-WX903: the daily pick that stops over-drying

Out on Oct 22, 2026. Airflow (about 7.4 m³/min) and power (1200W) are unchanged, but it reads your hair's moisture five times a second and switches between hot and cold air by itself. At about 550g it is the heaviest of the three, built for people who care about the finish.

Over three years, JPY 46,200 works out to about JPY 42 a day (46,200 / 1,095 days). For something you use daily, I find that a fair price.

Panasonic EH-NB70: smaller and faster than its predecessor

Planned for early November 2026 at an open price. Panasonic claims about 1.2x faster drying than the 2025 EH-NA0K at the strong airflow setting, and about 35% less volume (without the night-cap nozzle, cord excluded). Colors: sheer beige, amber black and misty rose.

Weight and airflow aren't published yet, so I left it out of the weight ranking. If you can wait for a smaller, faster model, it belongs on your list.

What I like, and what to watch

What I like

Tescom: light and foldable, so one dryer covers home and trips. Sharp: the stop-at-the-right-moment sensing adds up over daily use, with no loss of power. Panasonic: a 35% smaller body fits a bathroom drawer.

What to watch

The Sharp is the heaviest at about 550g and costs a lot. The Panasonic is not out yet, so you may want to wait for the full specs. Tescom's 62.9 m/s is a TURBO maximum; everyday airflow depends on the mode.

Three numbers to check first

First, weight: above 500g, your wrist tires during a 10-minute dry. Second, the condition behind each figure, such as airflow measured on TURBO. Third, the daily cost: three years of the Sharp is about JPY 42 a day, and a JPY 11,000 Tescom is about JPY 10 (11,000 / 1,095).

Which one should you buy?

Daily careful drying: Sharp IB-WX903. Frequent trips, tired arms: Tescom TEC-A086D. Willing to wait for small and fast: Panasonic EH-NB70.

If you can't decide, buy the Sharp IB-WX903. It keeps the 7.4 m³/min airflow and adds a way to stop before over-drying.
