【New: Oct 23, 2026】Daikin MC757A
【New: Oct 23, 2026】The MC757A covers 22 tatami from just 530mm tall
Air purifiers for big rooms tend to be tall. Daikin's humidifying MCK707A, rated for a similar room size, stands 760mm high.
The MC757A handles the same space at 530mm. That's 230mm shorter, with a max airflow of 7.5m³ per minute.
As a software engineer, I learned to read the footnotes before the headline numbers. Here, the 22-tatami rating comes from JEM1467:2026, the new Japanese test standard introduced this year.
My verdict
The first number I checked was how long it takes to clean an 8-tatami room. The MC757A needs 9 minutes. The smaller MC557A needs 12, so this one is 3 minutes faster.
Next was height. At 530mm, it fits under a window or next to a TV stand. If you want strong airflow in the living room without a tall box in view, this is my pick.
If you can't decide, get the MC757A. It covers 22 tatami at 530mm tall and cleans 8 tatami in 9 minutes.

Both are from the same model year and share almost the same filter setup. The difference is airflow, and the size it takes to deliver it.
To compare speed, look at CADR rather than max airflow. CADR tells you how many cubic meters of clean air a purifier delivers per hour. At 451, the MC757A works through the air in Daikin's 32m³ test room about 14 times an hour (451 ÷ 32 = about 14.1).
What I like, and what to watch
What I like
Low and fast. Cleaning 8 tatami in 9 minutes from 530mm tall matches the 760mm MCK707A. Intake from the front and both sides makes up for the lower height.
No filters to buy for 10 years. Day-to-day care is just vacuuming dust off the pre-filter, with no need to open the panel. If you run it 24 hours a day, that matters.
What to watch
It doesn't humidify. It weighs 9.0kg, and Daikin's spec sheet lists no caster option. Pick its spot first and you'll be fine.
Who is it for?
It's for anyone who wants a low-profile purifier in a 15 to 22 tatami living room, and for homes with pollen or pets that run a purifier all year. Daikin puts the daily electricity cost at about JPY 7.2 in purifying mode.
If you also want humidification in one unit, the MCK707A is another way to go.
Price and where to buy
It's sold at an open price. On Rakuten Ichiba, major Japanese electronics chains such as Bic Camera and Edion carry it. Over 10 years, the unit works out to about JPY 18 a day (64,673 ÷ 3,650 days). Add the JPY 7.2 electricity estimate and you're at about JPY 25 a day.
If you can't decide, get the MC757A. It's 3 minutes faster than the MC557A and matches a taller model's 9 minutes at 530mm.

From the same launch season, I also reviewed the Sharp IB-WX903 hair dryer, and for your phone, the Belkin BPD018 power bank.
