Which gaming mouse? Weight, battery and price decide it
It's easy to fixate on big DPI numbers. But daily fatigue and a dead battery mid-match come down to weight and battery life.
These are releases from July to November 2026, in release order. As an IT consultant, I read the footnote before the headline number, so conditions like battery time at 8,000Hz and direct-sale prices sit in the same table.
The short answer: for most people, the Logitech G304 X Superlight. For FPS players who want to use all of 8,000Hz, the SteelSeries Sensei Pro.
Three yardsticks: weight, battery, price
| Criterion | Winner | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Weight | SteelSeries Sensei Pro Mini | 49g, 10g lighter than the Logitech (59 - 49) |
| Battery | Logitech G304 X Superlight | About 130 hours, or 32.5 days at 4 hours a day (130 / 4) |
| Price | Logitech G304 X Superlight | JPY 12,980 direct, JPY 20,330 below SteelSeries' JPY 33,310 |
| Speed (polling rate) | SteelSeries Sensei Pro | Up to 8,000Hz. Position updates every 0.125 ms (1 / 8,000 s) |

Sensors: up to 44,000 DPI (HERO 44K) for Logitech and up to 42,000 DPI for SteelSeries. Both go past what you can use in practice.
Logitech G304 X Superlight: a 59g pick with about 130 hours of battery
Released Jul 16, 2026, about 40g lighter than the original G304. It weighs 59g, runs about 130 hours on a battery and has six buttons including the wheel.
At JPY 12,980, four hours a day means 32.5 days between charges. It's the answer for someone who wants light weight and long battery life at a fair price.

SteelSeries Sensei Pro: 8,000Hz at 53g without a dead battery
A symmetrical 53g mouse planned for Nov 20, 2026. It uses 8,000Hz wireless and two swappable batteries: about 16 hours per cell at 8,000Hz, about 60 hours at 1,000Hz.
JPY 33,310 is about 2.6x the Logitech (33,310 / 12,980). That premium buys 8,000Hz and a design that doesn't stop when a battery dies. More in my Sensei Pro review.

What I like, and what to watch
What I like
Logitech: 59g, about 130 hours and JPY 12,980 together make it the safe choice. SteelSeries: 8,000Hz that keeps going when a battery dies, thanks to the swap design.
What to watch
The three SteelSeries models aren't out yet, so their buttons stay inactive until Nov 20. Logitech's polling rate isn't given in the report I used. JPY 33,310 is high for a mouse.
Which one should you buy?
Light, with a fair price and no battery worries: Logitech G304 X Superlight. FPS players who want full speed: SteelSeries Sensei Pro. Smaller hands: Sensei Pro Mini.
If you can't decide, buy the Logitech G304 X Superlight. It weighs 59g, lasts about 130 hours and costs JPY 12,980.
