Sony WF-1000XM6: the pick for daily noise cancelling
Released Feb 27, 2026, it is Sony's top true wireless model. It carries an 8.4mm driver and supports SBC, AAC, LDAC and LC3 (the formats that carry the sound).
It connects to two devices at once and is rated IPX4 for splashes. With noise cancelling off it plays up to 12 hours. One charge covers a commute both ways plus lunch.

Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro: LDAC and three-device pairing for JPY 26,990
Anker's top model went on sale May 27, 2026. Its noise cancelling, "Ultra Noise Cancelling 4.0", is rated at about twice the previous model's strength by Anker.
It supports LDAC and pairs with up to three devices. The case has a screen for battery level and noise-cancelling strength, no app needed. With the case, noise cancelling on, it runs up to 28 hours: about 9 days at 3 hours a day (28 ÷ 3 = 9.3).

AirPods Pro 3: one pair for people on an iPhone
Apple's top model came out in September 2025. Apple rates its noise cancelling at up to twice the AirPods Pro 2 (July 2025 test). It is IP57 rated for dust and water and has a heart-rate sensor.
Playback with noise cancelling on is up to 8 hours, the same as Sony. What the JPY 42,800 buys is smooth iPhone pairing and an easy-to-use Find My.

Sony: 8 hours with noise cancelling on, 12 with it off, LDAC and two-device pairing. Few gaps for daily use. Liberty 5 Pro: 5.9g and JPY 26,990, with LDAC and a case screen. AirPods Pro 3: a heart-rate sensor and IP57 rating make it a fit for workouts.
Things to note
Sony costs more than the Liberty by JPY 12,610. The Liberty's 6.5 hours per charge is the shortest of the three, so the buds go back in the case more often. Some AirPods Pro 3 features need an iPhone.
Which one should you buy?
Noise cancelling every commute: Sony WF-1000XM6. Lower price with LDAC sound: Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro. iPhone user who works out: AirPods Pro 3.
