The OpenFit Pro is Shokz's first Focus Mode model, cutting noise with your ears open

Earphones that leave your ears open let you hear your surroundings, but in noisy places it is harder to focus on music. The OpenFit Pro answers that weak spot with Focus Mode.

Shokz's first Focus Mode helps you concentrate on the sound while you still sense your surroundings. A triple mic and an algorithm that adapts to your ear predict the noise level inside the ear.

As an IT consultant (SE), I read the footnote before the headline number. The "up to 99.4%" for calls is read as the maker's figure under its conditions.

How I judged it

First, battery. 12 hours per charge and up to 50 with the case. At 3 hours a day, the case-inclusive figure covers about 16 days (50 ÷ 3 = 16.7). Fast charging gives 4 hours from 10 minutes.

Next, calls. An AI voice-recognition triple mic cuts ambient noise by up to 99.4%, and a structure reduces wind noise. It suits people with many calls.

If you can't decide, take the OpenFit Pro. The reason: Focus Mode with open ears, plus a 12-hour battery and strong calls.

The JPY 20,000 gap is about the Air 2's whole price. For it you get Focus Mode, Qi charging, stronger calls and a 50-hour case.

If you mainly listen to music for hours, take the Air 2. If you also take calls or visit noisy places, take the Pro.

Strengths and things to note

Strengths

Cuts noise with your ears open. Focus Mode lets you concentrate on the sound while keeping a sense of your surroundings.

Long battery, strong calls. 12 hours and 50 hours, plus a triple mic, cover a day of calls and music.

Things to note

JPY 39,880 is on the high side for open-ear models. Focus Mode keeps a sense of your surroundings while helping you concentrate. On days you want outside sound fully gone, sealed earbuds are another way to choose.

Who is it for?

People with many conference calls who want a clear voice. People who want to focus on music in cafes and offices without blocking their ears. It also suits anyone who wants to charge less and just set them on a Qi pad.

If you only listen to music and want to keep the price down, the JPY 19,880 OpenFit Air 2 is another way to choose.

Price and where to buy

JPY 39,880 tax included, sold at Shokz's official Rakuten store and others. Over a year, that is about JPY 109 a day (39,880 ÷ 365).

If you can't decide, take the OpenFit Pro. The reason: Focus Mode with open ears, a 12-hour battery and strong calls together.
