[Released Jul 16, 2026] Logicool G G316 X 98
The G316 X 98 is a 98% board with 8,000Hz and swappable switches at an approachable price
You pick a gaming keyboard by response speed and key feel. The G316 X 98 supports up to 8,000Hz when wired, and you can change the switches yourself.
8,000Hz means the keyboard reports input to the PC up to 8,000 times a second, or 0.125 ms per report (1000 ÷ 8000). That is one eighth of the usual 1 ms at 1,000Hz.
As an IT consultant (SE), I read the footnote before the headline number. I treat 8,000Hz as the maximum when wired.
How I judged it
First, size. A 98% layout keeps the numpad and arrow keys at 384×140×40mm. It leaves room on the desk for mouse movement.
Next, the switches. They are linear, with 3.5mm of travel and 40g of actuation force. With hot-swap, you can change them if you dislike them.
If you can't decide, take the G316 X 98. The reason: it handles game response and numpad office work on one board.

The PRO X2 RAPID, the top model with magnetic switches and Rapid Trigger, costs about twice as much as the G316 X 98. It is for people who put response speed first.
For wireless work, take the K98M. For games and office together, take the G316 X 98.
Strengths and things to note
Strengths
Fast response. Up to 8,000Hz when wired, one eighth of the 1,000Hz reporting interval.
Yours to tune. With hot-swap, you can try other linear switches.
Things to note
Being wired, it leaves a cable on your desk. The warranty comes in 1- and 2-year versions, and the 2-year one costs JPY 1,780 more (19,580 − 17,800). If you swap switches yourself, check the maker's warranty terms too.
Who is it for?
People who game and also use a numpad. People who want to tune the feel of their keys. It also suits anyone looking for an 8,000Hz keyboard under JPY 20,000.
For the highest response speed, the PRO X2 RAPID is another option, and for quiet work the K98M.
Price and where to buy
It is an open price, and Logicool's official Rakuten store showed around JPY 17,800. Over three years that is about JPY 16 a day (17,800 ÷ 1,095).
If you can't decide, take the G316 X 98. The reason: wired 8,000Hz, hot-swap and a space-saving 98% layout come together.
